Peoria Riverfront Museum (PRM) is the only multidisciplinary museum of its kind in the US. It seeks to ‘unleash the full talent and genius of every individual’ through art, science, and history. In addition to blockbuster exhibitions and a diverse permanent collection of objects from decoy waterfowl to Preston Jackson’s “Bronzeville to Harlem: An American Story”, the Museum is home to the state-of-the-art Dome Planetarium and a five by seven stories Giant Screen Theater.

PRM came to us with the support of the Bloomberg Digital Accelerator program with the objective of re-imagining their digital front door to welcome guests before they even set foot in the Museum. Their digital website experience goes even deeper than a redesign and new modern Drupal build, we also integrated it with their all-in-one ticketing/CRM platform, Veevart (an app built on Salesforce which allowed for customization and complex syncing with Drupal), so the site can customize the user experience based on interest, membership status and more. Logged in users are able to see their giving history, ticket purchases, and update their basic information all while seamlessly syncing with the backend CRM being used by the PRM team.

A custom user experience wouldn’t be complete, however, without curated content on your dashboard. PRM’s robust library of digital content – from essays on the Art of Film to guided tour videos of past blockbuster exhibitions – is all categorized by topic of interest (which the user can designate) and relationships between the various content types. This architecture allows for users to dive deep into their passions digitally, further enhancing PRM’s mission.

Lastly, using the Modern Drupal infrastructure, we built a custom digital Achievement Passport. The Achievement Passport gives guests the opportunity to earn points by visiting the museum and participating in select activities. Previously, photos of the physical stamped passports were emailed to PRM staff monthly for manual tallying and tracking. This onerous manual workflow is now done automatically. Passport holders simply show their QR code to the staff member conducting the activity and the points are automatically added and calculated. With this digitization, we built a real time leaderboard which is visible both online and on a screen at the Museum.
